The site of actual combat during the Civil War, modern-day Garner
has rapidly been adding housing as well as familiar franchises like
Home Depot, Lowe's, Staples, OfficeMax, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target and
Home Goods. Garner is the
fourth-largest town in Wake County but still claims small-town
charm, calling itself "the most promising corner in the Triangle."
Garner is a draw for business, industry and research, and the town's
leaders have taken time to plan for essential facilities and
services to accommodate growth. New developments include the Garner
Senior Center and Lake Benson Park. Garner offers economic growth in
a less taxing, more gracious living and business environment.
The town is gearing up for its centennial celebration in 2005.
Fun-filled activities and programs are planned throughout 2004 –
dedicated to the sense of "Growth and Prosperity" highlighted in the
town seal. |
