Twenty miles east of Columbus out East Broad Street, Pataskala is in the
"Land of Legend,” Licking County.
In 1851, the Village of Pataskala received its first Post Office, and
controversy grew over the name of "Conine" until finally the name of
"Pataskala", which is an Indian word meaning "licking", and from that
point the Village continued to grow until it was finally incorporated in
1891. Pataskala was declared to be a city in January of 1997.
