Licking County’s largest urban center is the adjacent cities of Newark, Heath and Granville with a combined population over 60,000.  Newark is home to a branch campus of The Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College.  At the center of Newark’s historic Downtown is the Town Square; the Square and its surrounding turn-of-the-century buildings is a trip back in time.

The City of Newark Parks and Recreation Departments hosts more than 200 events per year in the city’s parks and green spaces; the Jazz and Ribs Fest held in July is a major draw.  Outside of Newark, the rolling hills and secluded back roads provide a quiet getaway.  Each autumn, a day-long steam and diesel train trip is offered from Newark into northeast Ohio to view the fall foliage.
