Gahanna is another
growing suburb with rural flavor. In 1987 Gahanna led the county in
the construction of new homes. Restoring existing structures and
constructing new buildings in the style of the 1880s is the central
objective in the revitalization of Olde Gahanna.
The city of Gahanna
has approximately 350 acres of parkland that have been developed for
outdoor recreational pursuits which include:
Friendship Park offers
a picnic shelter, gazebo, grills, playground equipment, basketball
court, two tennis courts, horseshoe pit, large open play areas and
beautiful wooded trails along Rocky Fork and Big Walnut Creeks.
Woodside Green Park:
A 52 acre facility along Big Walnut Creek features a ¾ mile bike and
pedestrian trail, canoe launching/landing site, creative play area,
basketball court, two baseball diamonds, picnic shelter and a
stocked fishing pond.
Pizzurro Park:
Located at the extreme southern boundary of the city, this park
offers a 20 acre site which provides some of the best fishing access
along Big Walnut Creek plus open playfields, a picnic shelter and a
canoe docking area.
Gahanna Woods Park:
Managed by the City of Gahanna, this facility is adjacent to the
State Nature Preserve located on Taylor Station Road, just south of
Havens Corners Road. This scenic park offers wooded trails and open
areas filled with wildflowers ideal for bird watching and
photography.
Gahanna’s population
is expected to double in the next 10 years. With the I-670 inner
