Pickerington is the home of championship high
school athletic teams and has the rural flavor missing from so many
other Columbus suburbs. With a view of the Columbus skyline visible
as you drive to work in the morning, Pickerington is a good value
for the housing dollar.
This is another former farm town that is
changing rapidly after a temporary lull in its growth. Tucked away
to the southeast and mostly in Fairfield County, Pickerington is
still rural enough that a few one to five acre lots are available
with newer areas opening up.
There is a friendly rural flavor along with the
accessibility of I-70. Although shopping in Pickerington itself is
limited, residents can go to nearby shopping centers, browse a local
bookstore, have coffee at Starbucks and choose from many family
style restaurants and the large River Valley Mall in Lancaster is
only 15 to 20 minutes away.
Pickerington has a
mayor and seven-member council with an appointed manager. The town
as its own police department but fire protection is contracted with
Violet Township. |
